Show & Tell: Ice
After taking a break in January I'm back on the Show & Tell bandwagon again. Annika calls the shot in February and her first theme is ice (she loves winter and snow so the topic was not surprising at all!).
I thought I'd show you some photos from my visit to Niagara Falls (Canadian side) back in December 2005. Some of you might have visited the falls in summer time but I'm quite sure not many of you have seen it frozen in winter*! Talk about ice, Annika! It was so beautiful!

* The main falls do not freeze of course but smaller falls do and the whole area is covered by ice - and natural ice sculptures - due to steam from the falls that has subsequently frozen.

Sudden Thought
What if my water breaks when I'm outside and it's minus ten degrees?! Nice and warm at first I'm sure but then..? An image of icicles hanging from my legs comes to mind!

Snow
Walked home from work in a little snow storm. Now devouring risgrynsgröt and sour dough bread från Valhallabageriet before an afternoon of working from home.

Can you see the Kaknäs Tower?

Show & Tell: Half-Year Check
Better late than never continues to be my mantra...
JANUARY
The highlight of January was Peter's surprise for my birthday: a whole day of fun including brunch, visit to Grand Hotel's spa Raison d'être and dinner at Pontus. The picture is from the ladies' dressing room and of the cold pool and the sauna - in addition they have cold bucket showers, experience showers and regular showers in the dressing room and more saunas (steam and regular), pools and jacuzzis out in the main spa.FEBRUARY
More of a sad highlight: our goodbye dinner for Jacqui and Chris and their little son Daniel who were sadly leaving Sweden after a four-year posting. Jacqui is by the window holding Daniel and Chris is the blond guy to the right. They are living in Brussels now so fortunately they are not too far away!MARCH
APRIL
A few seconds after our engagement on a cloudy Maldivian morning just after the 6am sunrise (which we couldn't see because of the lousy weather but who cares, I was so happy anyway!)MAY
May was a month of a weddings! First out was Peder and Gabriella. Peder is one of Peter's oldest friends; they fought over the same toys at pre-school at age 2.
Second was Peter's sister Adrienne and her Martin; here they are acting out a scene from a famous film... :)
Last but not least, my friend Suvi where I had the honour to be one of her two bridesmaids.JUNE
Forgot to find a June photo - will have to update later:)

Christmas 2009: Part Two
After Christmas, in the so-called mellandagarna ("in-between days"), Peter and I went out to the country house for a few days (located roughly here if anyone is interested).
With all the snow we've been having since mid-December I just had to make a snow lantern to greet the arrival of our dinner and overnight guests. I hadn't built one for YEARS!
It took a while to heat up the house (though the radiators are always on 10'C when no one is there) but with two fireplaces, one in the lounge and another one (this one) in the kitchen, we didn't have to worry about being cold.
Our guests, dear friends Maria and Daniel

Another White Thing - UPDATED
SNOW!! Finally, after a winter with no snow so far (except for a powderish layer once or twice), we got 1cm or so yesterday and a few minutes ago it started snowing again. Big snowflakes are slowly falling from the sky.
Update 14:30 - Looks like it may be already melting :(
