News and commentary on the life of the person behind this blog and on events in Sweden and around the world. Personal anecdotes, OP-Eds, reading suggestions, etc. Enjoy, and comment!
Dianes kommentar är ändå helt underbar: I lived in Sweden for 13 years and while I agree that the winters seemed long and the darkness depressing, I must say that there is no better place in all the world to raise children than in the land of the midnight sun. Moreover, the traditions that are mocked in this article are the memories that I cherish the most from my time in Sweden, midsommar, jul afton, and Advent to name a few. Now during the world cup series, the National Anthem still brings a tear to my eyes and my mind rejoices with the recollection of a country full of pride and a nation worth living in. I'm grateful that my children experienced their early childhood in a Sweden. I hope that others who represent Sweden abroad can take more pride in their country of birth.
